Talked to my local Chevy dealer in late November, who said they expect diesel Colorado’s to arrive in 6-8 weeks.

Last week I talked to them and they said it would be about 6-8 weeks for them to arrive, but I could put a $1000 deposit down to pre order one. Can’t do that until I test drive one. That’s all I need to do, test drive it, see if I like the way it drives then I can order one. Until then waiting, waiting, more waiting.

Just saw this on Chevy’s website, they now have a Z71 Midnight edition. Think this is “the one”

I’ve seen the diesels on transport trucks moving through STL so they’re on their way to dealers slowly but surely.

This is starting to look like a Mazda 6 diesel situation. Delayed until they never happen.

Yep I’ve looked on Auto trader and they have them listed for sale in states surrounding Missouri

They’re for sale in the areas surrounding Missouri (where they are built) but that is as far as they’ve made it

Friend of mine picked up his this Monday... It sounds whisper-quiet, and it has SO MUCH TORQUE.

EDIT: I’m in Quebec, so I’m not sure why it’s taking so long for you guys...

SOB yeah that’s annoying, but awesome that he likes it. My only concern is with turbo lag. I know this is not a true “duramax” engine, in that it is made by VM Motari, the same company that makes the 3.0L diesel for Ram 1500 and Grand Cherokee. Those 2 have some very annoying turbo lag, so I just hope it was not carried over to the 2.8L

So, if the dealer REALLY wants your business couldn't they just acquire one from someone else? Seems silly to have someone wait that long when they're available elsewhere. Either that, or Road Trip.

I’m going to be picky when I buy mine, meaning with the options I will want specific ones added so I’ll more than likely have to order it and wait. But yeah they should seriously try to get one to each dealer so people can at least use it as a test vehicle and determine if they like it or not.

I manage a race team for a Chevy Buick GMC Cadillac dealership and I’ve been waiting for them to come in just to test drive one for soooooo long. Initially I was told October 2015. That was a year ago.

I have no intentions of buying one cause I get a company truck, but my curiousity is killing me.

all our Colorados are diesel.

so many diesel engines are currently on backorder due to high oil consumption.

What do you mean they are on back order due to high oil consumption?

if they use more than 2 litres of oil in 10,000km just put a new engine in , we just put one in a customers ute , he ran it out of oil and it seized on him.

what engine is going into the U.S. market Colorado as ours are the 2.8CDTi from VM Motori in Italy.

Same engine 2.8 VM, rebadged as a Duramax.

Are you saying the trucks are on back order because other trucks from around the world are consuming oil and have to be replaced as warranty items?

replacement engines are on backorder , getting a new vehicle isn’t a problem. about 4-6 weeks before we’ll see another engine or 2 , we have 4 on order at present.

What country are you in?

How many miles are on those engines that need to be replaced? Now you have me worried about potential issues with a new truck I want to purchase

I figured that since that engine has been around for several years they would have had the issues figured out by now
